@xarvos Go figure. Mastodon.social.

I don't think mastodon.social is needed for onboarding, though.

@skydotbit Actually if you moved your sharkey instance to a free VPS this may be the reason but thats still a poor reason to ban a key.

@skydotbit Like I legitimately cant think of a reason to ban a key for translating anything. It's text. It's not an image. Deepl isn't going to get into legal trouble for translating text.

@skydotbit You may have used a vpn at one point with the key or something and deepl just gave you the finger.

Who knows?? You should reach out to their support to find out.

@skydotbit This actually applies to all terminal commands that output text, not just tcpdump.

@skydotbit I haven't used it in years but IIRC it would just dump it all into a terminal.

You can dump to a file with the > flag. For example, (command here) > log.txt

@skydotbit @amberdambey Yeah, I'm going to use libretranslate.

I don't want to devote too much hardware to the service, but I can definitely throw one up on a orange pi 5 plus. It has 32GB RAM, so it should be able to handle it. The only problem would be CPU usage. It has a NPU, but I dont think libretranslate can use the NPU.

@skydotbit If you want to dump all connections you want to look into tcpdump, which would be a better option.

@skydotbit @amberdambey I'll look into this and offer the translation key publicly.

If it can run on a orange pi 5 plus, I'll probably host it indefinitely.

I imagine if it's just for a couple instances, and the instances aren't very active, it wont require much CPU.

@skydotbit If you want to see active TCP connections use netstat.

If you want to see what services are (locally) listening, use netstat -tlnp
