@amberdambey @skydotbit I'm also not a fan of some design decisions on Mastodon. Primarily, I don't like how it stores original files.
Iceshrimp converts the files into AVIF format locally and WebP for external federation. Which, I feel is much more ideal. I also have it set to resize them.
Saves on storage space and bandwidth, which Mastodon really should be doing by default.
For a small instance, this doesn't matter much. But if my small instance ever grows, it could matter a great deal.
